Abstract. The article touches on the philosophical problems of values in modern visual art and the correlation of the material and spiritual-aesthetic values of a work of art. The author raises a problem of the cost of paintings and reveals possible criteria for their assessment. The hierarchy of these criteria is constructed depending on the interests of a person assessing a work of art.
