CONDITIONS OF COMPETITIONS HOLDING ON CONSTRUCTION OF THEATRICAL BUILDINGS OF THE END OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. In the article the peculiarities of the theatrical architecture of Russia connected with competitions holding are considered. A brief analysis of the Russian and foreign publications covering the activity of architects for the purpose of the research of the problems that occurred while organizing public competitions at the end of the XIX century is presented. By the materials of the construction of Irkutsk theatre the possibilities presupposing successful competition holding are studied. In the appendix to the article the graphic analysis of the awarded projects is given. The author makes an attempt to evaluate the conditions of the competition holding in Russia of the last two decades of the XIX century.
