MEASURES OF SOCIAL SUPPORT TO POPULATION OF VORONEZH PROVINCE IN OVERCOMING FAMINE IN 1891-1892

Abstract. In the article the reasons and consequences of famine in the Russian Empire in 1891-1892 are considered. The authors emphasize the measures of the tsar’s government and the Russian Orthodox Church in struggle against the consequences of crop failure and famine in Russia. Main attention is paid to the activity of special provincial committees, the types of targeted support, which was given to the needy strata of the population, by the example of support to the starving people of Voronezh province.
