SCIENTIFIC CRITICISM ON SACRED MUSIC IN PERIODICALS OF PETERSBURG AT THE TURN OF THE XIX-XX CENTURIES

Abstract. The article for the first time presents an analytical survey of scientific papers on the Russian sacred music published in the major periodicals of Petersburg at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The articles of various authors, among them the names of the eminent critics and historians of sacred music N. I. Kompaneyskiy, M. A. Lisitsin, A. V. Nikolskiy, A. V. Preobrazhenskiy, cover the issues of the theory and practice of liturgical singing, religious choral life, cantoral education and many problems representing the view of the spiritual and musical life of the town and the country of that epoch.
