SIGNIFICANCE OF EARLY INFORMATIONAL-THEORETICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF STYLE IN MUSIC

Abstract. The article is devoted to the early informational-theoretical investigations of style in music. The author describes, how scientists concluded about the structural and stylistic regularities of the musical composition identifying entropy and informational redundancy. The paper emphasizes the purely mathematical orientation of these investigations. At the same time their significance consists in the extension of the methodology of traditional musicology and the practical development of musical computer technologies.
