ON PREREQUISITES AND HISTORICAL CONDITIONS OF ECLECTICISM APPEARANCE IN CHURCH ARCHITECTURE OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. The article is devoted to some prerequisites of the appearance and essence of eclecticism in the Russian church architecture of the first third of the XIX century. The reasons, which provoked the imperial power to initiate a change from classical style to the Russian-Byzantine one that in the context of the historical realia of the XIX century modified into a new direction called eclecticism, are considered. In this connection the historical conditions and situation when the renunciation of the ideals of classicism was made are under study in the work.
