POLITICAL AND LEGAL VIEWS OF ISOCRATES AS IDEOLOGICAL FOUNDATION OF THE INTEGRATED GREEK STATE

Abstract. The article reveals the essence of the political and legal views of the ancient Greek thinker Isocrates. For the first time the paper mentions the role of Isocrates as one of the earliest spokesmen of the idea of the territorial integrity of the state. Special attention is paid to the doctrine of Panhellenism as an idea of the national unity of the Greeks. This ideology, which had been propagandized before Isocrates, became most popular in the period of the crisis of the Greek polis system and the search for the new forms of organization by the Greek society. The author formulates an idea about the practical usability of Isocrates’ Panhellenistic views for the integrated Macedonian kingdom developing.
