HISTORY OF FORMATION OF ORPHANAGES IN THE FAR EAST OF RUSSIA IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX - AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. The article analyzes the formation of the institution of public assistance to orphans in Russia and in the Far East at the end of the XIX - at the beginning of the XX century. The author shows the peculiarities of the formation of orphanages taking into account regional specifics. Support to children without parental care is represented as an element of the system of public assistance as a whole. In the Far East of the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century it included the creation of orphanages with the assistance of charitable institutions and the Church, and also support measures for orphans, who graduated from boarding schools.
