SICKNESS RATE OF URBAN POPULATION IN THE ANGARA REGION AND STATE OF HEALTH CARE SPHERE IN THE 1990S

Abstract. The article presents an analysis of the problem of increase in the sickness rate of the urban population in the Angara region in relation to the crisis state of health care system in the 1990s. The most unfavourable situation was registered in the industrial towns of the region: Bratsk, Usolye-Sibirskoye, and Sayansk. Increase in sickness rate was observed against the background of the decay of the state policy in the sphere of health care, the lack of control over the situation resulting in decrease in the availability of medical service for the majority of the population, the deterioration of the sanitary and epidemiological situation and the sharp decay of medical and preventive work.
