Abstract. The article examines the influence of the traditions of "Union of the Russian Artists" masters as one of the factors of Vladimir school of painting formation, which asserted itself in the soviet fine arts during the "thaw" period. Having generalized the views on this issue from literature, the author sees his task in the research of the generalities and differences of the artistic means and stylistic peculiarities of the works of these seemingly incompatible phenomena in the history of the Russian fine arts of the XX century.
