Abstract. The article considers the regional aspects of catering in the middle of the 50s of the XX th century. The specified period itself turned out to be on the periphery of research process, and the food supply of the particular city – Kazan, the expectations of its residents and their actual embodiment have not been extensively studied before. On the basis of significant factual material the author notes the incoordination of local and central authorities’ actions, the drawbacks of catering organization and their consequences.
