NOTIONS OF HEALTH AND DISEASE IN HELLENIC TRADITION AND EARLY CHRISTIANITY

Abstract. The article is devoted to a topical issue – understanding the development of ideas about health and disease in the Roman Empire of the II nd-III rd centuries. This period is of particular interest to historians of medicine, as it is related to two important historic events – first, the active formation of the Christian worldview and, secondly, the continuity of the natural philosophical ideas of the Hellenic period in the writings of the fathers of the early Christian Church. These two significant historic events form the problem field of historical and medical researches in terms of the need for their comparative analysis.
