RUSSIAN LEGAL REGULATION INFLUENCE ON DEVELOPMENT OF URBAN RIVERSIDE TERRITORIES IN THE XVII TH-XIX TH CENTURIES (BY EXAMPLE OF MIDDLE VOLGA REGION)

Abstract. In the article the master plans of the Middle Volga region towns, which were created in the process of regular town building started in the XVIII th–XIX th centuries, are analyzed. It is concluded that the riverside territory of "foreshore" had a special status, thanks to which its development was not regulated by town-wide architectural-planning decisions because of its special legal status connected with river navigation needs. Town building consequences of using the regulations of riverside territories are considered.
