PROSPECTS OF CONVERGENT TELEVISION IN POST-SOVIET STATES (BY EXAMPLE OF UKRAINE AND RUSSIA)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the description of the main problems of television industry in the former soviet space, in particular, in Ukraine and Russia, and the grounds explaining the emergence of convergent television in these countries. The author determines the role of new media in the process of social-political transformations, and draws attention to the peculiarities of the functioning of the new type of television in the post-soviet conditions. The study results allow the author to outline potential problems associated with the prospects of convergent television development in Ukraine and Russia.
