CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL MATRIX OF RUSSIA: MODERNIZATION OR LIQUIDATION?

Abstract. The article considers the formation of the cultural and historical matrix of Russia, its historical roots, and mentions the progressiveness and significance of Byzantinism to the Slavic culture. The role of cultural and historical matrix in the contemporary modernization process of society and state is analyzed. The contradiction of the traditional forms of social consciousness and the advancement of modernization processes in society is revealed. Particular attention is given to the leading role of social-cultural and ideological factors in the formation and development of the Russian cultural and historical matrix.
