TRANSFORMATION OF MATRIMONIAL BEHAVIOUR IN THE USSR AND POST-SOVIET RUSSIA

Abstract. The article presents a sociological analysis of the dynamics of the matrimonial behaviour of the population of Russia in the context of the changes of social policy and family legislation in the XX - at the beginning of the XXI century. Marriage rates, birth rates, divorce rates, the middle age of marriage serve as criteria for the analysis. The authors identify tendencies to changing matrimonial behaviour in various generation cohorts, reveal the specifics of the functioning of modern young families represented by the generation of 1985-1990 years of birth. The paper analyzes the dependency of the basic quantitative characteristics of matrimonial behaviour on social and political factors.
