Abstract. The article examines the basic spheres of the activity of the association Severovostokzoloto on tin and tungsten mining in the years of the eleventh five-year plan (1981-1985). This period was characterized by the stabilization of the mining of these metals in the region. The author identifies factors, which secured the stable work of tin and tungsten enterprises under the further exhaustion of deposits. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the impetuous development of prospecting tin mining. The researcher touches on the problems of the social development of mine areas, labor protection, the influence of industrial enterprises on the ecology of the region.
