REFLECTIONS OF B. N. CHICHERIN ABOUT VARIANTS OF NATIONAL TURN OF MIND

Abstract. The article considers the reflections of the Russian historian, philosopher, and jurist of the XIX century B. N. Chicherin about the features and variants of national characters. He compares the distinctive Russian character with the originality of the European variants of national turn of mind through the lenses of still urgent ethno-dualism "Russia - Europe". The cultural origins of the concept "the Russian mind" are revealed, and the structural properties and functionality rather than the ontological property of this concept are highlighted reflecting not the individual qualities of some people but changing in history proportions of their correlation.
