Abstract. The article considers various points of the views of experts on the results of the Russian Federation state policy implementation in oil and gas sphere in the context of modernization processes deceleration. The results of innovation processes in oil and gas sector, the effectiveness of sectoral science are analyzed. The conclusion is made about the need to take into account the specificity of the Russian model of modernization including a very important role of oil and gas factor. The authors believe in the possibility of domestic oil and gas sector to be a driving force of innovation development.
