Abstract. The article considers the openness of the Russian culture as a precondition for the process of foreign culture borrowings. In this context, the set of factors contributing to the openness of the Russian culture as a system is studied. The author distinguishes two groups of factors conditionally identifying them as historical (multicultural tradition, crisis of identity in the era of transformation) and economic (capitalism, globalization).
