INTRA-GROUP CONSOLIDATION AND INTER-CONFESSIONAL DISTANCE OF ORTHODOX POPULATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN

Abstract. The author of the article basing on her field data analyzes the level of intra-group consolidation and inter-confessional distance in the attitudes of the Orthodox community representatives of Tatarstan. To achieve the set tasks both quantitative and qualitative methods were used: mass survey, in-depth interview, focus groups method. The article studies the mutual heterostereotypes of the Orthodox Christians and Muslims compiled by the method of "free portraits"; the general condition of the perception of inter-confessional relations by the Orthodox community representatives; and the risks of a negative scenario in this sphere and their reasons.
