PERSONAL AMBITIONS OF F. A. EMIN AND THE RUSSIAN FOREIGN INTENTIONS OF THE XVIII CENTURY

Abstract. The article determines the role of the Eastern issue for Russia in the XVIII century. The author considers the influence of the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774 on the life of the story writer F. A. Emin. The reasons of the creation and the features of writing his work "Short Description of Ancient and Modern State of Ottoman Porte" are analyzed. F. A. Emin sought with the help of this work to improve his financial situation in Russia, and Catherine II - to know the military-political and economic situation of Turkey - the enemy of Russia in the war. In the course of the study the Turkish origin of F. A. Emin is questioned.
