Abstract. The article is devoted to the reorganization and activity of the Ministry of Agriculture in the reign of Nicholas II. The transformations of the department are considered against the background of the social upheavals of the beginning of the XX century, which were repeatedly accompanied by "ministerial reshuffle". The centerpiece of the article is the study of the conduction and consequences of government experiment on the transformation of the cumbersome Ministry of Agriculture and State Property into the mobile Central Administrative Board of Land Management and Agriculture.
