TRANSFORMATION OF STRATEGIC INTERACTION OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND THE EUROPEAN UNION IN THE LIGHT OF THE UKRAINIAN EVENTS

Abstract. The article reveals the evolution of interaction between Russia and the EU under the influence of the Ukrainian events. The author pays particular attention to mutual claims against each other. Possible prospects of the cooperation of these actors in the future are analyzed. The mechanism of sanctions both on the part of the European Union and the Russian Federation is considered. The consequences of these measures for the cooperation between Moscow and Brussels are revealed. The paper shows that the threats of Russia and the European Union in relation to each other are primarily economic and not political.
