Abstract. The article highlights the peculiarities of the soviet media as to the soviet-American relations during the period of Khrushchev’s rule. The paper gives the characteristic of the concept "public diplomacy", as in the USSR in the period under review the government headed for this form of international relations. The article describes how the soviet propaganda showed the political aspect of interaction between the two states. The data about economic, scientific and cultural interaction between the USSR and the USA published in the printed media are analyzed.
