STYLE FORMING PROCESSES IN THE EUROPEAN GOTHIC CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT

Abstract. The paper touches on the problems related to the processes of forming the artistic style of both universal and individual nature. The author identifies criteria for distinguishing the phenomena "text" and "discourse", "text" and "work". To analyze the style the researcher introduces the conception "modus of artistry". The study of style forming processes is carried out against the background of the sociocultural situation developed in Europe and England during the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance.
