IN THE WAKE OF OLD PHOTOS (TO HISTORY OF THE RUSSIAN-JAPANESE WAR)

Abstract. The article considers the source studies potential of previously unpublished photos stored in the museums of Udmurtia. By the example of the analysis of the personal photos and written documents of the sailor of the destroyer "Rastoropnyi" S. V. Tonachev and the sister of charity of the Elizabethan Community of Sisters of Charity of the Russian Red Cross Society Yu. A. Allenova some pages of their lives during the Russian-Japanese war are revealed. The conclusion is made about the heroic past of individual citizens, and the information capacity of photographs depicting the historical situation of the era is estimated.
