DISORDERS IN SOKOLSK AND USMAN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE XVII CENTURY

Abstract. The article examines events associated with public unrest that took place in the middle of the XVII century in the fortress towns of the South of Russia - Sokolsk and Usman. On the basis of available documents the author reconstructs the course of the events, describes the actions of the participants and the results of the disorders. The researcher concludes that the rebels’ actions were connected with the level of their political culture, which was characterized by paternalism, traditionalism, patriarchal nature.
