THE GERMAN ROMANTICISM AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XIX CENTURY AND DOCTRINE OF CARL VON CLAUSEWITZ ABOUT MILITARY GENIUS

Abstract. In the article the ground for the hypothesis of the direct influence of the early German Romanticism on the formation of Carl von Clausewitz’s ideas about a perfect commander is given. Romanticism is interpreted as a certain type of consciousness, which is based on the primacy of spontaneous and emotional basis. The author focuses on the comparison of the positions of romanticists and Clausewitz in comprehension of the image of a hero - an extraordinary personality.
