COMPOSITIONAL STRUCTURES IN WORKS ON SPORTS THEME OF ARTISTS OF THE 1920S

Abstract. The article undertakes an attempt to study the process of sports theme development in the works of the soviet artists of the 1920s that had significant influence on the genre formation, but were not sufficiently studied in domestic art criticism. Particular attention is paid to the compositional features of the works. It is concluded that the artists of "left" tendencies, who became the founders of the theme, used such plastic techniques when creating the spatial environment of the works as constructivity, assembling and the conventionality of forms. Attention is paid to the fact that the next generation masters, who passed through the school of Vkhutemas (Higher Art and Technical Studios), based on the formal attitudes of avant-garde when developing compositions.
