NOTION AND ESSENCE OF SOCIAL NORM: SOCIAL-PHILOSOPHICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract. In the article the problem of determining the essence and specificity of social norm is considered. The most widespread definitions of social norms given in native and foreign literature are analyzed, their main features and controversial moments are singled out. On the basis of the conducted research the author suggests her own definition of social norm, in which the main characteristics of this phenomenon are consolidated revealing its essence.
