PEASANTS FROM AMONG COSSACKS – SPECIFIC CATEGORY OF ENISEI AND IRKUTSK PROVINCES POPULATION (1871-1917)

Abstract. In the article the appearance and existence reasons of the specific population group "peasants from among Cossacks" connected with the reorganization of Enisei and Irkutsk cavalry Cossack regiments in 1871 and the dismissal of state peasants attached to military-service estate in the 1850-1860s and former penalized soldiers of internal guard within the territory of Enisei and Irkutsk provinces in 1871-1917 are revealed. Reference to this subject allows broadening the ideas about Cossack and peasant land ownership, the formation and status of the Cossack population in Siberia existing in historical science.
