Abstract. The article is devoted to the variation composition written by I. Moscheles and F. Mendelssohn – "Concert Duet" on C. M. von Weber’s theme – which hasn’t been researched in musicology yet. "Concert Duet" is closely connected with the piano music traditions of the first third of the XIX th century. This composition important role in collective variations genre development is emphasized in the article. It is not only the combination of different composers’ variations, but an integral concert composition created on the basis of two outstanding performers’ collaboration.
