Abstract. Technical civilization dark side is in the fact that modern society is characterized by technique excess and purposes deficiency and vagueness. The research novelty is in the mentioned problem analysis through the lenses of the subject’s values, who has mastered a technical speciality, which is formed during the years of his professional training and is often one-sided and purely pragmatically oriented that creates a potentially dangerous situation both for such specialist’s personal self-realization and society wellbeing as a whole. The purpose of the article is to study the man’s engineering activity generating technical civilization, which promotes the man’s total liberation and at the same time fetters him.
