CHILDREN’S IMAGES IN THE SPANISH RELIGIOUS SCULPTURE IN THE MIDDLE – THE SECOND HALF OF THE XVII TH CENTURY

Abstract. The article is devoted to children’s images in the Spanish religious sculpture, the number of which increases in the middle – the second half of the XVII th century, and considers them by the example of the leading masters’ creative works of that time (Pedro de Mena, Pedro Roldan and Luisa Roldan). The desire to emphasize the human nature of the depicted and thus help the believer in his way of approaching God comes to the fore in these works. The topicality of the article is related to the insufficient development of this theme in art criticism.
