SOVIET STATE SECURITY AGENCY CONSTRUCTION DURING INTERWAR PERIOD (1922-1941)

Abstract. The author mentions an objective need for studying the history of national security agencies in the system of the state interests protection, emphasizes that during the interwar period in the course of constructing the All-Russian Extraordinary Commission – State Political Directorate – Joint State Political Directorate – People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs, responsible for the neutralization of threats to the state, the objectively necessary functions of protecting its external and internal security were implemented; and tells that at the same time the historical experience of constructing the state security agencies today is particularly in demand in the operational activity of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia.
