Abstract. The author gives his own definition of the process of the Russian region political modernization, reveals its main features, forms its model, concludes that the modernization of the Russian regions political system is at the stage of citizens inclusion into the interaction with the political system, and for the successful transition to the new level of political modernization suggests conducting political-educational work among citizens, as well as the wider adoption of e-government in regions.
