Abstract. The author considers needs as a social, objective-subjective phenomenon, subject reality, analyzes the influence of needs on the personality structure on the basis of the leading theoretical ideas of classical social philosophy and postmodernist philosophical approach, and presents the understanding of need as a contradiction between the social subject and the conditions of his life activity.
