Abstract. The author analyzes the national-state interests of Russia and Iran after the collapse of the USSR, tells that the general national-state interests of both countries include the problems of Central Asia and Caucasus, Afghanistan and counternarcotic actions, the situation in the Caspian Sea, the expansion of the USA presence in the region, the conflict of the conceptions of the multipolar world and the unipolar world; and considers the main directions of the development of the relations between Russia and Iran, which determine the political stability of the region.
