KAMCHATKA SPIRITUAL MISSION AND ITS MAIN FIGURE METROPOLITAN NESTOR’S OPINION ABOUT KAMCHATKA CHRISTIANIZATION

Abstract. Kamchatka is of great interest not only for Russia, but for the whole world. The Russian Orthodox Church and in particular the last chief of Kamchatka Spiritual Mission Metropolitan Nestor (Anisimov) played an important role in the annexation and development of Kamchatka. The author studies Nestor’s missionary activity, his view on the process of Kamchatka Christianization and the importance of this peninsula for Russia.
