WOMEN’S COMMITTEES OF SIBERIA DURING THE RUSSIAN-JAPANESE WAR

Abstract. The author researches the activity of women’s committees in Siberia during the Russian-Japanese war in the context of their interaction with the authorities, analyzes the social preconditions of their origin, the forms and methods of work, estimates the social effectiveness and public significance of women’s committees, and concludes that in these associations the Siberian women were engaged in assistance to wounded soldiers and their families, and at the same time gained the skills of independent public activity.
