Abstract. The author analyzes the role of the Safavid state in silk trade along with the European countries and the Oriental states, considers the questions of various agricultural and other products export in these countries, presents the data on the nomenclature of goods imported from these countries, shows the role of a number of Azerbaijan cities as the major trade centers in the direction of the Volga-Caspian international trade route, and emphasizes the role of the economic and customs policy of the Ottoman state.
