Abstract. The author considers the agricultural rites of one of Dagestan peoples – Dargins, pays special attention to the magic rituals, customs and beliefs associated with the cult of fertility that accompanied all stages of the agricultural cycle in Dargins – rainmaking ceremonies, feast of the first furrow, the belief in the grain field spirit and other agricultural deity, and tells that their aims were to provide rich harvest for the farmer and the offspring of cattle, to protect him from the adverse impact of environment, etc.
