Abstract. The author considers the various points of view on political role and reasons of failure of agrarian draft law of tribune of the people Publius Servilius Rullus, substantiates that this draft law was the last actual effort to vest people with land under polis traditions, but the lack of public support led to the failure; and comes to the conclusion that there is no sufficient evidence proving that the draft was the part of political gambling, had any by-ends, or Servilius Rullus was not its author.
