VIRTUAL MUSEUMS: PRESERVATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE. VANDALISM

Abstract. The author discusses the modern phenomenon of culture – virtual museums, which are products of computer industry, considers one of the social-cultural functions of virtual museums – the function of preserving the cultural heritage, and shows that virtual museums have significant potential for the preservation of cultural heritage in cases when it is damaged or destroyed as a result of vandalism.
