Abstract. The author considers the complex of questions relating to the long-term stay of the Russian artists in Italy, basing on the presented data reconstructs the picture of the Russian artistic emigration in Italy, analyzes the creative, exhibition and artistic-pedagogical activity of the Russian artists, who lived in Italy during the first half of the ХХ th century, and pays particular attention to the results of studying the spectrum of the "Russian Italians" artistic interests, to the significance of their contribution to the development of the Russian and Italian art in the first half of the ХХ th century, and to the important mission of introducing the Russian art to the West.
