THE SWISS SYSTEM OF EDUCATION OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE XIX TH CENTURY IN THE PRE-REVOLUTIONARY RUSSIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY

Abstract. The author reveals the peculiarities of the Swiss education system perception by pre-revolutionary Russian history teachers since the beginning of the XIX th century till the adoption of the Constitution of 1874 that guaranteed universal compulsory education for children in all the cantons of Switzerland, and concludes that the Russian historiographers’ constant interest to the Swiss experience was caused by the desire to use the latter in the process of organizing their own system of public education.
