Abstract. The author reveals the factors of the ethno-cultural thinking and ethno-social behaviour of potential migrants in the Republic of Mari El, characterizes the structure of potential migrants’ census group, basing on sociological data considers their attitude to the history and culture of their own and other peoples living in the republic, and reveals the extent of their orientation to intercultural communication and ethno-cultural integration.
