ON QUESTION OF CREATING NEWLY GLORIFIED SAINTS ICONS AT THE TURN OF THE ХХ TH-ХХI ST CENTURIES

Abstract. The author discusses the formation of new iconographies in the icon of the turn of the XX th-XXI st centuries, tells that about 2000 saints were glorified at the Councils of the end of the ХХ th century, the iconography of most of whom is not formed, shows that the problematic aspect of this question is the portrayal of historical details – clothes, attributes, landscapes, the portrait features of newly canonized saints, outlines the stratum of literature on this question, and in addition pays attention to the appearance of false icons reacting to historic realia, but not actually recognized by the Church.
