BEETHOVEN’S PIANO VARIATIONS: DRAMATIC ART OF PERFORMANCE AND METHODOLOGICAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Abstract. The author discusses Beethoven’s piano variations, which are still little studied in modern musicology, considers the variations from the point of view of performance dramatic art that requires the combination of historical, analytical and performance aspects, suggests scientific approach to the performance of the variations, formulates the main principles of the performance, and concludes that the variation cycle dramatic art understanding is important for the better understanding of the genre features and the significant expansion of the modern pianist’s repertoire.
